Batman, Is That You?
What's up with Batman? He seems a little different. A little off, if you will. That definitely isn't how we remembered him. Oh well, goes to show just how much you can trust your memory - not at all, it turns out. Anyways, someone should tell this crime-fighting bat that it's high time he stopped stalking random strangers in front of their homes and started fighting crime again. That's all we ask of him.
Okay, seriously now, we have no idea what a bat of that size is doing just hanging around in front of this guy's house, but we would totally freak out in his place.
What Lies Beyond Your Uncleaned Dresser
No, no, no. This is definitely one of those things that if we were to find in our own house, we would most likely run for the hills and never turn back, just letting the house rot in place. What's creepiest about this photo isn't the actual lizard things, but their eggs. Those eggs are frankly as disgusting as they are terrifying, and they are plenty of both. No doubt about that.
What does one even do when one finds this? Who do you call to take care of this? Is there an anti-lizard association or something like that? If not, we should consider founding one.
We Didn't Even Know Birds Could Do That
We knew birds could miraculously form shapes in the air without any pre-planning whatsoever, but we didn't know they could morph into a full-blown bird cyclone or whatever this terrifying thing is. Seeing this picture totally makes us understand why there are so many classic horror movies about birds; they really can be terrifying when they band together like this and gang up on you. Wouldn't want to be near that.
We would, however, want to be near enough to witness this thing in person, but far enough to still feel safe. Just look at that thing: who wouldn't want to get a good look at it?
Yeah, This Guy Should Probably Take the Bus
Okay, we have so many questions about this photograph right here. First of all, how long did this guy leave his bike in one place that so many bees managed to amass under his bike seat? Second of all, why on Earth did those bees, out of the many different bikes visible in this picture, pick this bike in particular? Did he smear honey under his seat or something?
To top it off, our final question is: what is this guy supposed to do now? Just forget the bike ever existed? How is he supposed to get all those bees off his precious bike?
Toads Catching A Ride on A Snake? Perfectly Normal
These little froggies are catching the Greyhound snake to the big city. We wish them luck on their cross-country endeavor, and may they have a safe and eventful journey. Okay, but now in all seriousness, we're not quite sure how this situation came to be, as in how a bunch of frogs felt safe enough to catch a ride on the back of a snake, and we definitely wouldn't have believed it were this person not smart enough to carry a camera with them.
But they did bring a camera and took a photo of this strange occurrence, and now we can marvel at it from the comfort of our own computer screens. Thank you, random stranger!
This Is Actually One of the Safer Spiders in Australia
Or perhaps we should say least dangerous, given just how notoriously dangerous Australian spiders can be. Now, while this thing may look like something straight out of your nightmares, he's actually quite a useful pet to have; he won't bite unless provoked, and his bites aren't very dangerous at all. What he will do, however, is definitely keep cockroaches away from your home. That doesn't surprise us one bit, really.
If we were a cockroach, and we knew this guy was out to get us, we would stay the heck away from him forever. He's literally one of the most terrifying creatures in the world.
Birds Will Nest Anywhere
Apparently, and we just found out about this through this picture right here, that birds will nest inside a dead animal's mouth when there's no other choice available. Yeah, this pike is housing a full-blown bird's nest in his deceased mouth. If that isn't enough to make your skin crawl, we truly don't know what is. Seriously, what's up with the bird housing market? Are things so bad that they're forced into nesting inside a dead creature's mouth?
Or perhaps birds are just so depraved that they actually like nesting up in spaces such as this. We truly don't know, we aren't ornithologists, but this does freak us out.
This Can't Be Real
oh no, no, no, no. There's just no way this gecko managed to get inside a toy spider like that. That is just so heinous. It's terrifying and hilarious and crafty and surprising and even kind of impressive all at once. In fact, this situation is so weird, that we kind of find it suspicious. Call us conspiracy theorists, but we suspect that that gecko was placed inside the toy spider.
Who on Earth would do that, you ask? Well, that would be the person who posted this photograph. People will do a lot of things to go viral. That much has already been established.
Oh Great It's the Appocalypse
Oh, so zombie fingers are just casually spurting out of the ground for no particular reason these days? Cool, we guess it's the apocalypse. We'll go ahead and stack up on canned food and toilet paper and whatnot. Just joking. This isn't the apocalypse, it's just a weird species of Fungi known as Xylaria Polymorpha, also known as Dead Man's Fingers - a Saprobic Fungus known for resembling zombie hands.
Who even knew Mother Nature had things like this up her sleeve? We thought zombies were a thoroughly manmade creation. Apparently, that isn't the case. Maybe there's a natural inspiration to every mythical horror creature.
Is This A Landmass Shot From Above or A Sawfish?
We'll spill the beans: It's a sawfish. Sorry to ruin the riddle, but we couldn't help ourselves. Look at this thing, it looks so weird. It really does resemble some kind of satellite photograph of a Middle-Eastern harbor or something. You know, like one of those timeline photos of Dubai before and after they renovated the entire city. Except this is just a picture of a fish. Doesn't get any more natural than that.
That just goes to show you that there's a natural equivalent to every man-made treasure ever created. No matter how crafty we get, nature will always have some sort of a comeback.
The Ultimate Gladiator
So according to the person who originally posted this photo, this little guy apparently picked a fight with a bird approximately ten times his size. Not only that, but he actually managed to fend off the bird, and when he did, he just posed like this for a few minutes. Truly, this has got to be one of the most awe-inspiring victory poses we have ever seen. This guy just braved death.
He looked fear in the eye, and fear blinked first. Just look at how happy this little guy seems, and we totally get it; he just earned himself another day.
Maybe Lovecraft Was Right
Okay maybe all those Lovecraftian ramblings about ancient gods lurking at the bottom of the ocean weren't totally inaccurate. Just look at these things, they're either praying to some sort of ancient, incomprehensible demon, or they're the ancient, incomprehensible demons themselves. We're not quite sure which. What we do know, however, is that there's something terrifically supernatural about this photograph, which we totally love. It just looks really, really, mystical.
What's even crazier is that a diver is weaving through all these terrifying creatures. Like, dude, do you not value your life at all? Kudos to him, he's a brave man.
Battle of the Titans
These two noble creatures are just battling it out, as nature probably intended. It's truly a sight to see. The great Bald Eagle fighting a lone Grey Wolf. There is just something irreducibly noble and graceful about these two animals duking it out in what we can only presume to be a battle to the death. And yet, the sigh it also kind of morbid and terrifying. We have mixed feelings about this one.
It may seem cruel, but this is just what nature looks like when left to its own devices. Don't believe us? Watch any National Geographic documentary and see for yourself.
Yeah Thanks, We'll Never Sleep Again
At first glance, it's kind of hard to even figure out what exactly is going on here. Now, while we didn't at first know exactly what we were looking at, it was enough to make us terrified, scared to our very core. Like, this is definitely one of those things you think can only exist in bee-related horror movies, but no, these natural abominations are real, and you may just be unfortunate enough to stumble upon one of them.
The way all those creatures are piled up on top of each other is enough to make a man cower in place. It'll turn the bravest people in the world into cowards.
They Just Want to Play
Don't be afraid, these little guys just feel like playing a little bit. Come on now, play with them for a while; what's the worst that could happen? Okay, seriously now, if we were to see all these frog-like creatures (we're hesitant to just call them frogs, given how extra-terrestrial they seem), we would probably turn back to whence we came from and just walk the other way, hoping to forget what we just witnessed.
We're not sure if it's just us, but these frogs seem a bit too... intelligent to be just your regular, run-of-the-mill frogs. The way they're looking at the camera, it's as if they know something we don't.
Imagine Waking up to This Scene
We're not sure how that snake just managed to bag himself an eagle for lunch, but he sure did. We've got to hand it to nature at large and this snake in particular - the animals populating the animal kingdom can get really crafty sometimes. Like, if we were to tell you to hunt down an eagle, you probably wouldn't even know where to begin. Not this snake, though.
He would know exactly what to do. When it comes to hunting down eagles for lunch, this guy's a seasoned veteran. This is definitely one snake you wouldn't want to mess with.
This Shouldn't Exist
Sometimes you come across something that really makes you scratch your head and ask yourself: dear lord. what on Earth am I even looking at? This is definitely one of those things. Like, we've been looking at it for a few minutes now, and we the only thing we can say about it with 100% certainty is that it is an abomination and that things like this shouldn't exist. Truly.
Like, why are its wings so colorful while the rest of its body is just this weird, brownish gray? We don't get it. Nature can be so incomprehensible at times.
It Ripped A Hole Through Space and Time
Man, we don't know what this spider is made of and where it came from, but we do know that it somehow managed to distort the very fabric of space and time. Like, this spider just opened a portal to the Spiderverse. Look into that gaping void the spider left in its wake and tell us that isn't a portal to another dimension. We need to make sure this portal stays closed.
Because that portal will probably allow millions of spiders to travel to our dimension, and we definitely don't want that. If there's one thing we as a species can all agree on, it's that we don't want a spider-saturated universe.
Find the Spider
At first glance, this picture may just seem like an innocent photo of a tree branch, Yup, nothing to see here, or is there? Actually, there's plenty to see in this picture. You see, that branch isn't just a branch. Nope, that's a spider on the branch. The spider is called the Wrap Around spider, and it s notorious for its uncanny and frankly quite frightening ability to flatten itself and wrap its limbs around such things as tree branches.
Once you spot the spider-; like patterns on the branch, you can't unsee them. Truly, this has got to be one of the most impressive uses of camouflage we have ever seen.
Bon Appetit
So there's a story behind this picture, and it is frankly quite terrifying. What happened here, according to the person who originally posted this photo, is that he noticed that a few shrimps were missing from what we can only assume was his fridge or his groceries. He went outside, and voila, found them strapped to a pole. If that isn't enough to make your skin crawl, we don't know what will.
Truth be told, we didn't even know that ants even liked shrimp. We thought that seafood was something strictly reserved for sea creatures and humans. Guess we don't know anything about the world.
The Birds Are Watching
Don't make any sudden moves. Don't act erratically, that is unless you want to be pecked to death by the birds. Okay, that may be going just a little bit too far, but seeing all those birds lined up like that on the electrical wires and the traffic lights is certainly terrifying. This town, wherever it is, has definitely got some kind of a bird problem. Hopefully, they'll take care of that.
That is, before the birds will take care of them. These birds aren't playing; they know it's a life-or-death scenario right here.
Where's the Rest of It?
Okay, so we're no bird experts, but we are pretty sure that there is supposed to be a body attached to these claws right here. We don't even want to imagine what happened to this guy. We're sure it was pretty gruesome if it managed to tear the bird's torso and head from its claws. Seriously, nature can be so metal sometimes. This is something that could totally be the cover album for a black metal band.
Still, we do wonder what exactly happened to this bird. Like, what exact sequence of events led to this situation? Oh well, guess we'll never really know what happened to this poor creature.
Why Is This Possum Yelling at an Eagle
Okay, this may not be one of the scariest nature photos out there, but it definitely is one of the more confusing ones, if not one of the most amusing. Like, why does it look like that possum is just screaming his brains out at that eagle? What could they even be arguing about? We have absolutely no idea. They're not even of the same species, that's what makes this picture so weird.
What's even weirder is that this eagle is just sitting there, taking it, as that possum goes in on him. Maybe that eagle knows it's in the wrong, whatever it is he did.
This Guy Was Way Too Calm
Look, if we were to find a tiny little spider stuck under our computer keyboard, we definitely wouldn't be uploading it to Snapchat while adding a cute, witty little pun while we were at it. That would take way too much composure, which is definitely something we wouldn't have at that exact moment. We would probably be panicking and running all around our house thinking of what to do and how we could get rid of the darn thing.
But when you think about it, when you really think about it, this spider really isn't doing anyone any harm. He's just chilling there under the control key. Nothing wrong with that.
The Trees Are Angry
As if all these spikes didn't make this tree seem menacing enough, this tree had a few other tricks up its sleeve. This tree is known as the "Dynamite Tree", and it grows exploding fruits. Yeah, you read that right; exploding fruits. When these fruits are fully mature, they explode vehemently and shoot their flat seeds at extremely fast speeds (up to 150 miles per hour). These seeds can seriously harm and injure anyone unlucky enough to get caught in their line of fire.
Oh, and did we mention that the fruits are poisonous? Also, the tree's sap is said to cause a violent, red rash, deadly enough to turn people blind if it gets in their eyes. The sap was even used to make poison darts back in the day.
A Scallop's Eyes and Teeth
Oh man, this one is freaky. It's like looking into the face of some kind of strange alien creature that had to travel thousands of light years just to get to us. But this isn't an extra-terrestrial creature, it's just a scallop. As if we needed any more proof that deep sea things are pretty much aliens, well, now we have more proof of just that. Look at this thing, it's creepy!
But, in some kind of weird way, it is also kind of beautiful. It has an otherworldly beauty of some sort. It's hard to explain, but it is there.
Harpy Eagles Are Scary
What you're currently looking at is the claws of a harpy eagle compared to the fist of a fully grown man. Yeah, needless to say, harpy eagles are quite big, and they are also kind of terrifying. Their talons can be as big as a bear's claws, and their legs can grow up to the size of a human wrist. You really wouldn't want to mess with one of these.
That being said, we have no idea how the person who took this photo managed to muster up the courage to photograph himself shaking hands with one of those. Brave man.
When You See It
There's something incredibly frightening about this photograph. Did you spot it? Look into the skull's eye. Yeah, there it is; a chrysalis coming into being. It's almost kind of poetic - life growing where death resides. Still, we cannot deny that it is also creepy as heck. Why do animals always seem to find shelter in the most morbid of places? What's wrong with trees and bushes and other wholesome places?
We can only imagine how it must have felt to find this thing. As if finding that huge skull wasn't creepy enough. That chrysalis is pure nightmare fuel if you ask us.
This Little Guy Is on A Murdering Spree
Wow, wherever this spider is residing has got some sort of flying insect problem. That is not a healthy or sane amount of flying insects to have flying around your person. Thankfully, this spider was there to combat all those pesky flying bugs, even if his methods are a bit inhumane. Guess that's just the animal kingdom for you - unflinchingly brutal and somehow impressive and kind of funny at the same time.
We definitely need one of these spiders in our house too. Perhaps every houes should come with its own resident spider designed to manage the residential insect population. Just a thought.
Yeah, Lovecraft Was Definitely Right
Okay, we are definitely convinced that Lovecraft was right and that the sea is filled to the brim with ancient, alien-like creatures with godly status and stature. Just look at this photo, if that doesn't scream "ancient demon gods" then we don't know what does. Okay, now what this actually is, is just a bit of seaweed in the waves. Nevertheless, this photo is nothing short of terrifying. Really though.
What's up with this beach anyhow? We've never seen a beach teeming with such frightening seaweed formations. Where do people even go to find these weird sights anyhow? Beats us.
These Guys Actually Revived This Frog
Apparently, the frog was all dried up and withered and seemed long gone, when one of the people involved in the original post suggested just splashing a bit of water on it. The frog miraculously came alive, as if it had just come back from the dead. This is one of those things which are kind of wholesome and kind of really creepy at the same time. A tough feat to accomplish.
We have to give credit where credit is due, though, and the people who revived this frog definitely earned their fair share of the credit. Good on them for saving a life.
Nature Should Really Consider Dabbling in Digital Art
This totally looks like something you would see at a modern-day, contemporary art exhibition for 3D, digital art. All the features of generic contemporary art are here: weird, almost fractal shapes; clean, polished textures; and a certain air of edginess. What this actually is, though, is the skeleton of a puffer fish. That's pretty crazy when you think about it, given just how puffer fish look with all their skin and meat on.
We would never have expected their skeletons to seem so... metal. This thing is pretty hardcore if you ask us, and we totally love it. One of the cooler skeletons in nature.
Is This Some Kind of Sign?
If we were to find this in our backyard we would probably take it as some sort of sign of impending doom or some kind of morbid prophecy regarding our fate. This person, however, took it in good stride and decided to upload it to the internet. We're not sure how he remained calm enough to do that, though. That thing has teeth to it. Teeth we say! That's terrifying!
Whoever this person is, he is extremely adept at growing demon plants. Heck, he may have even invented a new genre of gardening: evil gardening. Sounds cool, sign us up!
It's Like TV Static But in the Sky
Man, birds are so scary when they band together like that and blot out the sky. This doesn't even look like a flock of birds taking flight. It looks more like a bug in the matrix, or a weird, supernatural kind of storm. This picture makes it seem as though the sky were a huge TV and all the birds were some kind of TV static. This is terrifying, but also incredibly cool.
Definitely cool enough to make us wish we were there to see it in person. Some things are just the right amount of frightening and cool. This is one of those things.
Just Discovered A New Fear of Ours
New phobia unlocked, for sure. We are going double if not triple check our toilet seats for any disgusting sewer toads lying there from now on. Seriously, how could this even happen? This is like the worst-case scenario. You know how when you're feeling down, sometimes people, in an effort to cheer you up, say: it could be worse? Well, this is what they mean. Your life may truly suck.
But it doesn't suck as bad as having a swarm of sewer toads ravages your toilet seat. That's just a different level of misery. We truly feel sorry for the person who had to go through this.
These Aren't Skulls, They're Snapdragon Seeds
You know, you would never guess that these were snapdragon seeds just by looking at them. You also would never guess that snapdragon flowers could sprout such morbid, terrifying, spooky seeds, given just how colorful and wholesome they seem when they actually bloom. Nature is truly a master of transformations: even some of the most hideous things can turn into something beautiful. This is definitely an example of just that.
It's really interesting to think about how these things will eventually turn into beautiful flowers. It's kind of cliche, but these outlandish transformations truly are a strange feature of nature.
Apparently Gargoyles Exist
Holy cow. That is one strange creature. He looks like some kind of failed experiment or something like that; some sort of hippo and bat hybrid that scientists tried to create, only to have it fly out the window and escape their diabolical lab. Or perhaps it looks more like something straight out of Ancient Greek mythology. Either way, this creature is as interesting as it is freaky.
What it actually is, though, is the hammer-headed bat. Yeah, there's a whole species of creatures that look just like this guy right here. Who even knew these guys existed?
Did He Just Eat His Own Tail?
This Gecko may be the most unhinged creature we have ever seen. Seriously, that is some foul stuff right there. He literally ripped off his own tail and ate it. We're not sure what we should even call that. Is that cannibalism? We have no idea. All we know is that this Gecko is one of the most metal creatures in the animal kingdom. It has totally earned our respect.
When was the last time you saw someone tear out one of its limbs and then just devour it as if it were nothing? Yeah, that isn't something most people see every day.
Always Look Before You Pee
As if you didn't have enough to worry about on a day-to-day basis, you now have to look out for snakes taking refuge in your toilet. We're not sure how this snake managed to crawl his way into that toilet bowl, and why he seems so comfortable there as opposed to literally anywhere else in the house, but we do know that we don't like it one bit. Not at all.
Snakes are terrifying, and having one of them curl up inside of our toilet bowl is definitely a thought scary enough to keep us up at night for a few days.
He Just Wants to Say Hello
Hey, don't be alarmed, this little guy just dropped in to say hi. Don't think about it too much, he was just being polite. There's actually a story to this picture, though. Apparently, the people living in this house were having their home renovated, which caused this terrifying creature to come out of its hiding grounds. There's a lesson to be learned here: when it comes to home renovation, expect the worse.
We're not sure how the person who witnessed this arachnid monstrosity remained calm enough to snap a photograph of his home intruder. Lord knows we would have run the other direction.
A Female Chimpanzee Carrying Her Young
As diverse as the animal kingdom is, some things are pretty identical among the different species. Take this female chimp and her baby, for example - the baby is unable to care for itself, and will likely stay with under its mother's care until they are four to five years old. And obviously, being a mammal means that the mother chimpanzee will nurse her young for a while, much like human mothers do.
As humans, we like to think that we're unique, but the truth is - we're simply members of the animal kingdom, just like any other great ape.
